Upside Down

by Trevor Morgan, Years Later Music (ASCAP) / Goodwin Trev Music (ASCAP), Dillon O’Brian, Warner-Tamerlane Publishing Corp. / Universal Songworks, Inc. (BMI) and Will Owsley, Warner Brothers Music Corp. / Owsley Music Publishing (ASCAP)

Change me
Please rearrange me
Make me a man
I know you can if you receive me

Still standin'
In reckless abandon
Weathered and worn
And so forlorn, I'm yours completely

Broken
Helpless and hoping

You can turn my world upside down
Fly me through the blue sky, high into the holy ground
For all the things I've loved and lost
I only wanted to be found
Come take my world and turn it upside down

Gold streets
Covered in concrete
I covered my tracks
But not the cracks in my foundation

I'll strip this
With you as my witness
I'll tear it apart
And bear my heart in revelation

Come take it
I know you won't break it

You can turn my world upside down
Fly me through the blue sky, high into the holy ground
For all the things I've loved and lost
I only wanted to be found
Come take my world and turn it upside down

Change me
Please rearrange me

Turn my world upside down
Fly me through the blue sky, high into the holy ground
For all the things I've loved and lost
I only wanted to be found
Come take my world and turn it upside down

I’ve heard it said that, ultimately, “we all want to be found.” We want someone to pursue us, to unravel our mysteries and discover the person that lurks behind our shield of hair gel and cologne.

This can be experienced in various relationships (husband/wife, parent/child, friend/friend), but the most powerful example is found between Creator and creation – God pursuing those who are unworthy and unfaithful, doing for us what we could never do for ourselves, and truly turning our worlds “upside down” with unconditional love.
