Bring On The Peace

It’s Thursday, and I can’t think of anything to
say
Sidetracked by all the things that just won’t go my way
But somewhere in the middle of this line
Something rushes through me like a supernatural sign
Like sunshine breaking through the clouds
A new wind is blowing through me now
And filling me with joy
Oh, a sweet release
Yeah, bring on the peace
If you only said the things I want to hear
If I only saw the sky so blue and clear
Would I hope or ever need to dream
Would I taste the victory that follows a defeat
Like sunshine breaking through the clouds
A new wind is blowing through me now
And filling me with joy
Oh, a sweet release
Yeah, bring on the peace
Something’s coming over me
Breaking through my misery
Something’s coming over me today
Yeah something’s coming over me
Breaking through my misery
Something’s coming over me today
Like sunshine breaking through the clouds
A new wind is blowing through me now
And filling me with joy
Oh, a sweet release
Yeah, bring on the peace
Yeah something’s coming over me
Breaking through my misery
Something’s coming over me today

This
is as close to a stream of consciousness lyric as I will
probably ever write.
I was literally sitting in our guest
bedroom, guitar in hand, drawing a complete blank on any
lyric ideas. I had a melody that I liked, so I just started
singing the first thing that popped into my head – “It’s
Thursday and I can’t
think of anything to say.” From there, the song just
fell out. I probably finished it in 20 minutes!
Listening
now, I can see how this song is such an accurate representation
of what was going on in my head during the weeks leading
up to recording this album. I was nervous, frustrated, and
wondering if I was really good enough to be a “recording
artist.” But at the same time, I had a peace about
it all because I knew that this is what God had called me
to. It seemed like just when times were at their darkest,
the sun would break through and replace the doubt and frustration
with peace and joy.
