The Back Of My Mind
by Trevor Morgan, Years Later Music (ASCAP)

You’re always in the back of my mind
I swear I think about you all the time
I can’t break this hold you’ve got on me
And I’m praying that I never will shake free
I catch you in the corner of my eye
And wonder how you always take me by surprise
I could travel to an unfamiliar place
And everywhere I’d turn, I’d see your face
When I run
You chase me
When I fall
You brace me
When I’m lost
You find me just in time
You’re always in the back of my mind
You’re always on the tip of my tongue
There’s a part of you in every song I’ve sung
You’re the melody that bring me to my feet
The breath behind the words I speak
When I run
You chase me
When I fall
You brace me
When I’m lost
You find me just in time
You’re always in the back of my mind
You’re always in the back of my mind
I swear I think about you all the time
You’re everything I never thought you’d be
The mystery that’s slowly solving me
When I run
You chase me
When I fall
You brace me
When I’m lost
You find me just in time
You’re always in the back of my mind

If
the life of a musician is grueling, then the life of a musician’s
spouse is pure torture.
Think of all that you sign on for – the
crazy schedules, lonely nights, unstable income, long-distance
phone calls, constant barrage of insecurity-filled questions
(Does this lyric make sense? Do you like the melody? Does
my hair look okay?)…it’s enough to drive anyone
insane.
But here’s the most unbelievable part – my
wife wouldn’t
have it any other way. She understands that this is what
God has called us to, and I am humbled and honored everyday
that I get to spend the rest of my life with her. I wrote
this song to let her know that, wherever I am, she is always
with me.
